    President

    Angela is a passionate community supporter and the president of the board for A Safe Space Mentor. With a career spanning diverse industries, Angela brings a wealth of experience in marketing strategy and content development, alongside a deep commitment to building vibrant community spaces.

    Driven by a love for creating meaningful connections, Angela co-founded Milk & Pull, a beloved neighborhood coffee shop with locations in Brooklyn and Queens. This venture reflects a dedication to fostering community spirit and bringing people together through shared experiences. The success of Milk & Pull stands as a testament to Angela’s ability to blend brand storytelling with practical execution.

    In Angela’s professional journey, she has developed and executed impactful marketing strategies across entertainment, publishing, and tech sectors.

    As president of the board, Angela is committed to leveraging her extensive background in marketing and community engagement to advance the mission of A Safe Space Mentor, ensuring impactful results and a thriving, connected community.

  • Imani Isaac

    Vice President

    Imani Isaac is a dedicated advocate for marginalized communities, committed to providing a voice to the voiceless. With a strong interest in how the built environment influences our sense of being, Imani has spent their career fostering community engagement, promoting equity, and developing innovative partnerships. Imani’s professional journey includes significant roles in various New York City agencies and organizations. At the NYC Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice, Imani managed outreach programs, coordinated citywide events, and facilitated essential services during the COVID-19 pandemic. Their expertise in project management, community relations, and stakeholder engagement is complemented by their ability to analyze and report on impact metrics, ensuring that all initiatives are data-driven and results-oriented. Imani’s leadership in coordinating programs that provide pathways to employment for underrepresented students and fostering community cohesion through advanced research has earned them accolades, including the Congressional Award of Community Service from Congresswoman Nydia Velázquez and the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Champion Award from the United States Tennis Association. Imani Isaac continues to drive meaningful change through roles that span senior management to grassroots community work, building bridges between communities and opportunities. Their commitment to enhancing the built environment and its impact on community well-being remains at the forefront of their professional endeavors.

  • Robert Arias

    Sustainability Director/Treasurer & CO- Founder

    Robert is a seasoned producer, filmmaker, photographer, and creative director based in New York. As an executive at Screen Gems Studios, Robert has been instrumental in major projects with leading organizations such as Disney, Marvel, Netflix, and National Geographic.

    In addition to his work in film and television, Robert is a co-founder and treasurer of A Safe Space Mentor, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing mental health resources and support to the BIPOC community. He is also the founder of Pangaea Studios, a creative consulting agency that focuses on innovative and impactful solutions for diverse clients.

  • Debra langer

    Director & Secretary

    Debra is passionate about improving access to wellness tools that can bring transformational improvements in the health and prosperity of adults, children, and families.Debra received a bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Ethics from the University of Pennsylvania in 1988, a juris doctor from Fordham University School of Law in 1992 and a Masters of Education in School Psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University in 2016. She is currently pursuing coursework to become a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the State of New York at Brooklyn College, CUNY. Debra practiced law as a securities fraud litigator for six years after which she joined the Lower Eastside Girls Club as a Board Member and Project Manager for their capital project. After moving from Manhattan to Westchester County, Debra became a volunteer advocate with CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Westchester County. Debra started her career as a school psychologist at South Bronx Classical Charter Schools and moved to the Stamford Public School District (SPSD) in Stamford, CT where she has worked since 2019. In her current role on the SPSD Social Emotional Support Team, Debra is responsible for introducing trauma-informed and resilience-building concepts and interventions to SPSD staff (administrators, social workers, school psychologists, teachers, etc.), students and parents through 1:1 and small group coaching.Debra has completed numerous classes and trainings on a wide range of topics related to wellness and mental health including, but not limited to mindfulness, meditation, habit science, CBT, DBT, polyvagal theory and somatic tools. She is also a Reiki Master and breathwork facilitator.

  • Teya Knapp

    CEO & Founder

    Teya is a mental health advocate & activist. She has created free resources to the BIPOC community centered around mental, physical, and spiritual wellbeing. She has dedicated her life's purpose to empowering her community with the intention of creating an abundance of opportunities that create inner peace & joy into peoples lives. Teya grew up in social impact work by volunteering at her grandmothers soup kitchen. In 2015 she started her first mentorship program supporting over 100 young adults in the Charlotte North Carolina. In 2020 she founded Asafespacementor.

  • Jasmine Dayze

    Chief Operating Officer

    Jasmine Dayze’s passion for wellness began over 10 years ago when she and her mother opened Anoz Spa Boutique, located in Garden City, NY. Anoz Spa Boutique served as relaxing getaway for all of its clients, bringing the island vibes of her culture, Jamaica, here, to New York.  As the co-owner of Anoz, Jasmine Dayze was able to develop lifelong skills, necessary to excel her in the field of wellness, such as, outstanding leadership, bringing ideas to life, and committing to a journey of learning how to best meet the wellness needs of those who she had the pleasure of servicing.  After selling Anoz Spa Boutique in 2023, Jasmine Dayze began focusing on cultivating the online community, specifically through making wellness content to inspire people of color to prioritize their self-care through massage, stretch, and meditation videos.  She has reached over 70,000 followers and continues to make a daily impact across many social media platforms. Today, serving as Safe Space’s Chief Operating Officer, Jasmine Dayze commits herself to the development and implementation of beneficial strategies that are needed in the daily operations of our company, to ensure that our objectives and goals are seamlessly met.

  • Moradeyo Adeyi

    Moradeyo Adeyi

    Program Lead / LCSW

    Moradeyo Adeyi, LCSW is a social worker, and adjunct professor, supporting first year graduate students at Columbia University School of Social Work in their foundational course, Decolonizing Social Work. Moradeyo possesses a strong desire to cultivate inclusive and anti-oppressive workspaces through training and education.

    At Hunter College she also teaches the Practice Lab on Oppression with the purpose of introducing core antiracist frameworks and approaches to the social work graduate students with the goal that students come away with skills for incorporating social justice models into their work and lives. Moradeyo also works in private practice as a Mental Health psychotherapist.Additionally, Moradeyo serves as a birth/wellness coach and doula, supporting expecting parents on their family planning journeys. Moradeyo earned her Masters in Social Work from Fordham University in 2012.

  • Mervnide Pierre

    Outreach Chair

    Mervnide Pierre, CNM, MS, (she/her/hers) is currently a midwife at Metropolitan Hospital; previously she practiced midwifery at North Central Bronx Hospital for three years. She is a graduate of Columbia University’s Nurse-Midwifery Program and before moving to New York, Ms. Pierre completed her undergraduate degree at Mount Holyoke College. Growing up in the church is where Ms. Pierre grew an affinity for helping and serving others but Mount Holyoke is where she developed the language for her passion in birthwork. Ms. Pierre’s experience as an educator includes previous appointments as adjunct faculty at Columbia University School of Nursing, guest lecturing for their DNP Midwifery program, and clinical precepting for midwifery students. This year, Mervnide also founded mbodywell, a reproductive health and wellness hub dedicated to empowering individuals through knowledge. Her upbringing as a first-generation Haitian inspires her belief in hard work, community, and culture. Outside of birthwork, her other interests include mental health and wellness, astrology, food, and fitness. When she is not working, she also enjoys a good playlist, buying too many candles, exploring Brooklyn with friends, and dreaming of her next vacation.

As the visionary behind Meh'Kin Moves, she creates enriching experiences that celebrate culture, creativity, and community.Through her platform, she sparks insightful discussions on creatives' journeys, hosts The Creative Toolkit to empower freelancers with crucial entrepreneurial resources, and curates THE LIST to highlight events in New York.
